    Remembrance
    lifelines pressed parallel
    my graceless balance
    of adopted Eternity

    and ever
    charting potentials
told to be granite and impending

    trip over
    and catch my outstretched breath

    orchestrated interlude
    to lift this edge
    storing our Leaves
    simple and immense

    given
    Matthew’s urge
    6 miles left
    and 34 feet apart
    slow churning to settle

    steamed milk
    down my quiet throat
    like the sinking
    of a sigh

    This future
    is my sleeping ember
    cloaked and autumn crisp

I don't know if anyone reads this anymore, but I just have to express my delight with the PSU library. It is flippin great! I'm writing a paper on Parkinson's Disease and holy books batman! For real, they could have a minilibrary on this one topic alone. And the express self checkouts....I may be in love.

I am really excited to use this library for good (a.k.a. recreation) instead of evil (a.k.a. research papers) this summer!

so this week I need to:
    write this paper
    take a research/methods final
ask 4-5 profs for letters of rec since they will probably forget me in a week....ugh
apply to as many lab/med assitant jobs as I can in the philly area
cross my fingers and hope I hear good things from PCOM
    start looking for a car
pray for a summer subletter.... :(
make presentation on findings from my behavior study (lots of ppl sitting in the back of classrooms like to nap)
    fix my iPod
fix my computer (send it in)
find something to wear for the Spring Banquet
    GO TO THE SPRING BANQUET!!
    Hiphop final
go to the museum and write a paper about it
o the list keeps going, and I am getting more anxious so I quit.

thank you again CNN.com for all the distraction.

This is a...... Chiweenie!!! how cute is that!!!!! (a  Chihuahua/dachshund mix)

a SCHNOODLE!!!!!!!!!!! awwwwww! (schnauzer /poodle mix = something I could actaully touch and not self combust!)

reminds me of Mariah, although she is much more adorable.

I think I may have just bomb-bomb-babomb-babomb-babomb-bombed my nueropsych exam.  Apparently, there was a chapter on sensory and motor hemispatial neglect that I neglected (haha uncle humor.) to read.  Stupid essays questions.  I still answered what I thought Janet (the case study in the untouched chp 7 from what I could gather) should be diagnosed with and why.  I'm sure it will be an interesting read for my TA.  I also couldn't remember what part of R's brain was removed to prevent his epileptic seizures, so I decided to lop off an entire temporal lobe.  That should cover it.

It has been a somewhat hectic week, something I haven’t had in awhile.  I have allowed this lull in life to license laziness.  I go to bed early, get up late, and watch Will and Grace and Gilmore Girls to my heart’s content.  In all honesty, I am starting to disgust myself. *shiver*

This is one of the many places I would like to be working this summer:

    update
    Classes
    * Health policy admin - boring. I should probably know stuff about insurance and such, so I'm going to try to be interested
    * Research/Methods Psych - b.o.r.i.n.g. topic but smart prof who knows we are not so jazzed about his class so trys to make it lively.
    * Hip Hop - boooooooy do I suck. The class is also on the larger side which doesn't help me so much.
    * Perception and Sensory Psych - veerrrry physics and chemistry driven. I like this. veeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyy boring proffessor (almost commically so). I don't like this.
    * Survey of the Arts - It is an online course, but it requires that I go see a trillion shows, so that is cool. expensive. but cool.
    * CLINICAL NEURO PSYCH! - aaaaaaaaaaaaaa. home.

    sleeping is ggrrRREAT!
Only one final to go! I have actually enjoyed taking my exams this year. For the most part they were like trivia games that I happened to know the answers too. Classes were interesting, and I’m actually going to miss most of them. This last week in theater we have been studying the progression of the musical in America. The acting troop did an AWESOME job. I was actually proud of them. I had to miss the last class (in which they preformed some of Wicked!) because I had 8 papers due that day. Gross. And sad…and more gross.

The ACF Christmas banquet was last Friday. The tradition is that the hosts along with theme are kept secret until the banquet commences. I got to be a co-host! We did a spoof on Beauty and the Beast and used music from 10 different Broadway musicals. We would stop action everyone and again and do a “Scene-it” and at intermission an “Act-it”. The vast majority of the work wasn’t done until the night before, and so we never actually got to ever run through it. It still went alright, but I am not an actress at all and ran out of dance moves more than once. It was fun though, and I was completely honored to be asked at all.

Melanie is graduating. I am definitely going to miss her. Thankfully, I flippin love my other roommate.

Penn State is gorgeous. I absolutely love walking home from classes. Now, if only it could stay this far above freezing I would be pleased.

AWIS has been extra time consuming lately. We volunteered at the Shaver’s Creek Children Halloween Trail. SOOO CUTE! I wish I was little again, so that I could experience it at its prime. I’m currently working on a blood drive with Red Cross. Much more work needed than I expected.

I would have to say my favorite indoor place this year is Starbucks. It is yummy, good for studying, and so very conducive to conversation (and thus the basis of its major appeal).

Work is pretty great for the most part. We (Dr. MK, grad student Trish, fellow undergrad and I) are developing a study (procedures, lab set up, and all) that looks at the effect of crawling across multiple developmental domains. It amazes me the PhDs and grad students actually listen and consider what I think! The down side of work is that I have to do lit research and present to these people on their own field. Not so fun. My first presentation was kind of crappy. I tried to cover up being very unprepared by turning it into a discussion. It was interesting but not as informative as it needed to be. Shoot. :( It is hard deciding what level of material to present to such a broad knowledge range. Thankfully, my next presentation is on cognition, which is a subject matter I’m pretty comfortable with. I will try to make up for the last slapdash job.

Classes are all pretty interesting, and I actually enjoy taking some of my exams this year. I will soak that in while it lasts.

I don’t know what I am doing this summer or next year. Hmmm.

    little update
last weekend was a GREAT weekend in Boston!

this week was the usual amount of busy (8 papers, 2 tests, dinner with friends and cute play included)...and I have had to delete snood from the computer AGAIN. Guess you can't teach an old dog new tricks.

This weekend my Aunt Betsy, who lives in the Keys and hasn't been home to hburg in 3 years, evacuated the Keys to PA! So I went home friday to see her. I have never met a better female story teller. Seriously, how does she do it? I think it helps to have an extrodinarily interesting life. I'm working on it.
Oh, and I also got to spend lots of time with my dad and puppy. Pretty great.

Today I came back to State College for the HC Day of Service. I ended up with pretty much the only assignment I didn't offer to do, manicures at a nursing home. I absolutely detesssssssssst the sound of a nail file and find nursing homes to be on the on the depressing side.

At the end of the day I was very thankful for the placement. 1) I didn't have to file a single nail. 2) The residents were soooo oooo oooooooooooo happy to have us there. I spent half the time in one woman's room and didn't paint a single nail. One woman went to Julliard. So many stories. So many pink nails.

Now I'm going to go watch the game with the girls.

Spy Game...I forgot how much I like this movie.

    Run down
Just wanted to record a little taste of outstanding points of life this past week:

Monday night - ran my first volunteer committee meeting and really liked it! cross your fingers that participation stays up

Tuesday night - Last IM softball game...usually we are just scrapping by with the # of players, but this time we were above and beyond...fun times

Wednesday night - got baptised @ Camp Blue Diamond!

Thrusday night - went to see BatBoy....very, very bizarre play. I had to go for class, and I went by myself. I have never done anything like that before. I liked it!

Friday night - Allyson came for the weekend! Luke and his girlfriend were in town too, so a big group of us went to dinner, then some to Salsa lessons! and then attemtped to watch a movie

Saturday - studied at Saints cafe, went to the football game AND got in the "S" Zone!!! (woo psu! 5-0!), made dinner laurens, hung out on the HUB lawn, and went to The Dinner for the famous grilled stickies

Also, Jonel came the weekend before, so I have had some great weekends! This year is flying.

    quick like a bunny
Had our first IM softball game last night. We were thoroughly trounced (sp and sp?) but it was enjoyable anyway. The highlight was the wild car dance party on the way home. ooo and I was showing off my mad ballerina skills.......*crickets chirp*......and while executing a superb spiraling leap I forgot what I was doing and spun down into a heap on the ground. I am the picture of grace.

This morning I kicked the metal track for the shower door and split my toenail. OUCH! Luckily, I only lost 1/4 of the nail, and, in combination with the swan dive into the ground the night before, I had a jaunty little limp to sport around campus today.

    Cybertorium
I love having Mondays off; however, it exacerbates my Chronic Procrastinism.

The first week of school has been pretty darn good. I love my roomies and dig my homey little apartment. My classes are all interesting and I have professors (sans 1) who all seem to like teaching as much as or even more so than researching. I've seen far too many movies, hung out with many missed friends (including two who have now journeyed back to BU land), been reunited with ACF, volunteered with Sheetz at the football game, played real volleyball, studied at Barnes and Noble, had dinner with mom and great grandma D, braved a ravaged Walmart twice, been to two AWIS meetings...and the list of goodness goes on. One might note that studying has yet to be explicitly listed above.

This evening, after attending a delightful picnic, I plan to right this lazy wrong.

I am not wishing away the summer by any means, but

I AM SO EXCITED TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL!!!

I have never been this excited for any school year (and DEFINITELY not for a college yr).  It is a very good feeling.
